Starlight parade...

This last weekend we took the kids to the Starlight Parade where local to us. It is part of a big event they have in portland called Rose Festival.

This was our first outing to this large night parade with the kids, it has been about 8 or 9 years since my DH and I have been so it was fun. This parade is huge there a Thousands of people that line the streets for this 2 or so hour parade. So that we could get good seats we started out on on adventure at 4 pm and headed out to CC and Papa's to meet them at the Max station to take the train into town. The kids were so excited to take mass transit into town, not something we do very often. So we get on the train, oh my was it packed there were so many people go to the parade by mass transit this year, it was shoulder to shoulder standing only most of the way in. What should be a 20 min run into town turned in to just over an hour. I felt so bad for Monkey because she was in the stroller and so she could not see out the windows she just go to look a tushy's. We got into town at the perfect time, we managed to find front row seating for the kids and we were close to the train line to get back on back home.

While we were there it was fun to watch the kids, we also had a neighbor boy with us so it was fun. They were so cute and well behaved remembering to whisper and not point when we they saw someone that was a bit different from us. We saw people with lots of tats, piercings, wild hair ect. These are not normal things that the kids see every day living out in the area we live in. So it was fun. We had dinner downtown and tons of snacks.

We then left the parade about 30 minutes early to catch the train home and we were so glad. We thought it was packed the first time, it was worse the second. Trains officials just kept squishing the people on, you could not turn, move or anything and it took just over an hour to get back to our stop.

All in all we had a great time, this kids want to go back next year so I think we will.
